History 101

Before Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue to the America's, the land was filled with many tribes of  Natives who respected and honored the earth. They were people who protected and cared for the earth and all living things. The name of most tribes when translated meant "The People".

Some translations such as: N'Dee [In Apache N'Dee means The people the true name for the Apache.] The word Dina = pronounced Din-A today they are called Navajo. The name Tsalagi = Cherokee and the list goes on. You may say Sioux, but the correct name is Lakota = La'Koe'Ta They all mean The people. Or the people of this land, The original ones.

The explorer Christopher Columbus wanted an army to travel with him to prove that a person could not fall off the horizon in other words they believed that the world was flat and they thought that if a person traveled to fare up the horizon they would fall off the earth. He also went searching for new lands. He was not granted the army that he wanted instead the officials decided to empty their prisons and oblige Columbus with cut throat, raping,  murdering inmates for his army. The most vile of men.

With this group he set out to find a new world. With his so called special equipment, education and skills Columbus headed out off to the country of India. But instead being lost he landed here in the far reaches of the western hemisphere lost and near death he and his men landed on the shores of the Americas.

These men woke to the help of our people. Who helped them and befriended these people from a far distant land.

In the years following 1492 Europeans began to ship slaves to the western hemisphere. They were slaves brought to turtle Island from every part of Africa.

Massai, Mandingo, Yoruba, princes and kings from Dahomay and Pekuhu. Many times, slaves escaped and hid amongst a people so familiar with there own culture, it wasn't very hard to adapt. African, met Indian, Indian met African and an alliance grew and tribes grew stronger as they both had many of the same types of traditions and similar ceremonies.

The colonial officials saw this alliance and decided to put an end to this union so they hired Indians to hunt down fun away slaves. And hired Slaves to hunt down Indians.

Regiments such as the Buffalo Soldiers was used to subdue most of the west. In an attempt to assimilate Natives, they were given slaves. The Cherokees were given more than 2000 slaves. Other tribes such as Choctaw, Chickasaws,   Seminoles and Black feet also owned slaves. And while some were treated well and cared fore. Some were not. In many cases these tribes simply grew stronger and married. They bore children and grew strong. With the immunity to sicknesses and strength Africans brought  to the Skills and ingenuity of the American the people grew stronger and were able to survive what could have been a total inhalation of a people.

In some cases if it were not for the alliance entire tribes would have been whipped out. But the strength of the union kept many tribes alive and this is very evident today.
